From the Desk of General Manager
As I jot down these few lines, my memory takes me back to those days when I joined this organisation in 2003. Asha Handicrafts, whose vision was very clear “wholistic development of the artisans from various craft centre of India”. The seeds were sown and it started bearing fruits through BUSINESS. But the team at Asha, always had a passion, to do something wholistically. I was thrilled with the Mission statement of Asha “TRADING, TRAINING and TRANSFORING. We all were completely sold out to this organisation. And that’s the reason; majority of the staff who has joined this organisation has never left. We have staff who worked as long as 43 years and currently none of the staff has been there for less than 10 years in the Organisation. This is the biggest strength of ASHA. Never-the-less, the same continue with the Governing Board. I can only say about them in one word “Faithful Servant”.
Today, as we celebrate the 50 years of this journey with artisans from India, I feel very happy for the challenge that we took to initiate this program of Preserve, Protect and Promote Indian Crafts and Craftsman. It was a challenge and a struggle, but worth taking seeing the impact that it made in the lives of many people across the country. We have grown from just few handful artisans in 1975, today we are proud to celebrate this day with more than 1200 artisans across the country who are part of this Asha Family. Some of our artisans have now their own export business, some of their children have become doctors, Engineers, Teachers, professionals, and proud to say, some of them still continue the legacy of their fore-fathers of running the craft business as 3 rd OR 4 th generation.
On this precious occasion, I just wanted to thank all the staff, the artisans, the governing board, Our Long- standing buyers, and various stakeholders who have contributed to the success of this organisation.
HAPPY 50 TH ANNIVERSARY TO ALL ASHA FAMILY!!!
