Strengthening Artisan Partnerships: Exploring New Crafts Across North and Central India
Asha Handicrafts was always keen on Strengthening Artisan Partnership and exploring new crafts across North and Central India
Asha Handicrafts Association aims to develop and promote new crafts by connecting craftsmen to potential markets and consumers by generating economic, cultural and social opportunities for artisans while preserving Indian traditional heritage.
Asha Handicrafts staff visited existing and new artisans from north and central India. The visits aimed to discover unique and new crafts that will add to the current product range.
The visits enabled the staff to interact with artisans directly and provided a two-way process where Asha Handicrafts could impart knowledge on market trends and quality standards while learning from artisans about traditional techniques and cultural significance.
By visiting artisans to explore new crafts, it is a proactive approach that benefits both Asha Handicrafts and the artisans they work with. It can lead to a more diverse product range, better quality control, support for artisans, and a stronger, more sustainable business relationship.
These visits can help establish long-term partnerships with artisans and suppliers. This leads to the discovery of first-hand reliable sources and a deeper understanding of the craft process dynamics.
